Operations Meetings

Much of Zytron's success can be attributed to it's standardization of good equipment and procedures, coupled with the training of good operations personnel in those procedures. To this end, Robert's Operations meetings were invaluable in developing and maintaining these standards. As the demands for our services increased, personnel could be moved from one Zytron site to another with minimal retraining and services for our customers could be moved from one part of the country to another with minimal transfer or conversion effort. The following are just a few clips from a few of the uncountable such meetings Robert hosted.

The first Operations Managers' meeting, held in San Francisco after the merger of Data Copy and National Micromation was distinguished by visits from Dave Davidson (second from left), founder of Data Copy and first President of Zytron, Terry Bogue (third from left) and Don Popowski (third from right). Managers in attendance included Dave Granata, John White, Sam Cavalarro, Bob Balthazar,Tom Baker, the late Larry Marr, Rosie Finneran and Jackie Smith. If anyone can provide more names, please drop me a line.

A typical setting for the lecture portions of such meetings was a "U" table where all could see the lecturer at the open end.

The operations training students from February of 1993 - almost 20 years after Zytron's first Operations Management meeting.

Another such group from November of that same year.

And yet another group, joined by Robert, in July of 1994.

Another group of trainees, joined by Robert. I found no date for this picture.

Not all activities were formal. Some of the best sharing of ideas came from informal, after-hours gatherings such as this.

What is this? And what is wrong with this picture? I'm sure all attendees of Robert's meetings could tell you.
